Blackjack Strategy

Its important to have a blackjack strategy if you want to be successful at the blackjack table.  There are strategies you can use when 'hitting' or 'standing' on a hand and these will vary depending on whether it's a hard hand or a soft hand and who's holding it.  You or the dealer.  We'll cover some of the more important approaches here, including doubling down, splitting pairs and the difference in your strategy between a single deck and multiple deck blackjack. Lets get started!

Hitting and Standing On Hard Hands

These are the general strategies you can apply for single and multiple deck games in all casinos.

Basic Guidelines

•    When the dealer shows a 7, 8, 9, 10 or A, hit all hard totals of 16 or less (unless doubling down or splitting is more profitable) at any rate, you will always draw a card.
•    When the dealer shows a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, stand on all hard totals of 12 or more. Optional exception - Hit 12 vs. the dealers 2 or 3.
